Biodanza is a system of human development that promotes the integration of the identity through integrative vivências (lived-experiences) generated by the power of music, movement and emotion.
It is a system of human development because unlike other more clinical approaches Biodanza is not limited to aspects of the personality. Instead, it focuses on the human being in its wholeness, in its biological, physiological, psychological, holistic aspects. It is a system also because it integrates other fields of knowledge and multiple approaches - music, rhythm, melody, dance, movement, emotion, vivencia, connection, group interaction, and more.
Biodanza proposes individual dances to promote integration with self, dances in pairs to promote integration with the other, and dances in group to promote integration with the totality - all in a dynamic process of inducing integrative vivências.
Learning happens under a positive environment enriched with positive ecofactors. We do not focus on traumas, blockages or other difficulties because life already brings us plenty of that. Above all Biodanza aims to stimulate a positive attitude towards life, to generate the positive stress that creates vital impetus and increases the capacity to act in daily life, with a view to promote that process of integration of the self.
Our theoretical model will be covered in all its complexity, and integrative vivencias will be induced to generate health and wellbeing, and to improve our capacity to live in a healthy and peaceful way. Enough of the belief that life is a struggle full of suffering and stress to meet our basic needs. Life can be positive and celebratory if we make it so. That is what Biodanza is about - celebrating life!
