MONTHLY WORKSHOPS IN BRISTOL
March & May were cancelled DUE TO THE LOCKDOWN
Most people want health, vitality, energy, joy, pleasure, inspiration, creative flow, self-expression, love, friendships, and inner peace - all the "things" that make life worth living. This is what Biodanza is about. It is a path to optimum living where we gradually become accustomed to taking responsibility for generating the positive emotions and constructive attitudes we need to create the life and the supportive relationships we want.
That is why I have chosen Courageous Living as the theme for the next series of 4 workshops, which is an invitation to listen to that inner voice that says, |
"Dare to live, dare to love, dare to express, dare to be all that you are - and all that you can be!"
Come, let ́s reclaim our courageous nature! Let ́s step out of our comfort zone, face our fears and transmute our own resistance so that we can live life to the full, open our hearts to love, be authentic in the way we communicate, and touch the mystery of Life....
We are a friendly bunch and would love you to join us. If you have any friends who would like to try Biodanza but feel reluctant to commit 5 hours to something they´re not sure they will like, 1st timers are welcome to only attend the first session (11am-1pm) for half price and stay for shared lunch if they so wish. The same applies to those with health issues which would make it difficult to do the full workshop. Please bring a snack or something simple to share during the lunch break (1pm). Thanks!
Investment: £40 on the door
Early birds: £30 (21 days prior to the workshop) / £35 (17 days prior to the workshop)
Please email me on [email protected] for payment details and to let me know you are coming. Thank you.

By Car: St Michael’s Church of England Primary School is next door to the Parish Hall – we can use their top playground for parking, the area of carpark behind the hall.

From Women and Men to Gods and Goddesses
September 12-13, 2020 in Bristol
Paola & Cristiano Martins
CANCELLED DUE TO THE LOCKDOWN
Although the Greek Gods have shaped our Western culture for many thousands of years, we seem to have forgotten the power of these mythical archetypes to help us to tap into our inner resources. Dancing their different energies can help us to recognise our latent potentials and to become all that we can be in a balanced way, which in turn will allow us to respond to the situations that arise in our daily lives in effective and appropriate ways. Biodanza´s archetypal dances offer us a way to directly experience these archetypes and to actualize them in the body. These dances work at an unconscious level, making them deeply transformative to both men and women.
|
Our inner gods are many, and they´re just waiting for us to give them a chance to shine. Here are some of them. Athena represents our intelligence, inner strength, capacity to make plans and work out strategies, and the determination to achieve our goals. Artemis comes alive when we feel at home in nature, with animals, finding healing plants or fighting for environmental protection armed with bow and arrow. Aphrodite reminds us how to be sensual, at ease in our body and with our sexuality. Demeter is expressed in our instinctive capacity to nourish others, to nurture the earth and to celebrate the cycles of life. Persephone’s task is to renounce the helplessness of her maiden self, to recognise her power, and to emerge as a Woman. Hestia surfaces when we focus on our inner, spiritual world. Letting go of worldly concerns and finding meaning in a more solitary life. Ares reminds us the need for positive aggressiveness in a cruel world. Poseidon helps us to fearlessly transform our darkest feelings into a sense of emotional mastery, and Hephaestus awakens our ability to see our inner beauty and to transform it into beautiful gifts for our loved ones.

You will learn Biodanza´s gradual approach to adult sexual development in a safe and boundaried environment. The weekend will include examples of dance-movement exercises aimed at strengthening our identity (including sexual identity), awakening desire, increasing our capacity to express those desires, and helping us to let go of sexual repression, dare to take initiative, learn to pick up the non-verbal signals that enable us to be in feedback with our partner, and surrender to the pleasure of loving connection. DEEP FEMININE AND DEEP MASCULINE
2-3 MARCH 2019
Read the latest update here
Biodanza invites us to immerse ourselves in an adventure of self-discovery through the full expression of our human potentials. This specific weekend invites us to focus on the multiple aspects of our gender. It invites us to explore, embody and integrate the deep feminine and masculine energies present in human beings. This is regardless of sex assigned at birth, gender identity, sexual orientation, or gender role and expression. The proposal is to co-create a safe space for shared exploration of questions such as, what kind of person am I? what kind of woman am I? what kind of man am I? what makes me different from the opposite gender? what makes me similar? This exploration will happen in a very embodied way, through carefully chosen sequences of dance-movement exercises and rituals for men and women to reclaim their essence so that the genuine revelation of each unique Identity can emerge in beauty.

The Art of Happiness - Embodiment, Emotions, and Relationships for Personal and Social health
I will be sharing my experience of facilitating Biodanza sessions for refugee and asylum-seeking women from different cultures. The talk with include my calling to work with refugees, how this partnership came about, and what I have learned from practice. I will give a brief overview of the partner organisation and the services they provided. I will then talk about the service users and issues to be aware of, such as language barriers, cultural and religious Do's and Dont's, genital mutilation, levels of trauma, and more.
|
Time allowing, I may cover the risk of using music that may trigger memories of traumatic events, the need for music that represents particular cultures, and then finish with examples of possible musical sources, appropriate music from the existing collection, and a list of safe, powerful and potentially very healing Biodanza exercises for refugees.
BIODANZA & SHAMANISM DAY WORKSHOP
SUNDAY 16th June 2019
cardiff, wales
Shamanism is a way of connecting with life, which has been present in humanity since ancient times. From the Paleolithic period, we have communicated with plants and animals and have respected the cycles of nature. In Siberia shamans were spiritual leaders who gave people access to ecstatic states induced by drums, rituals, dances, and songs where they could connect with spirit guides that could help them on the path of healing and inner peace. Shamanism spread throughout Europe and America and has multiple expressions. Shamanism is timeless and universal and can always be rescued from within. |
We all have an inner shaman which can be awakened as we recover the connection with our internal and external nature. Shamanism is not a religious belief. It is an ancient expression of humanity, an ancestral system of connection with the different planes of reality. In a respectful and careful way, neo-shamanism brings the possibility of this way of life to modern human beings.

Archetypal Dances of the 4 Animals * Sheffield
You are warmly invited to this one-off workshop in Sheffield exploring the instinctual wisdom of the 4 animals embraced by the Biodanza system - the tiger, the serpent, the hippo, and the heron. The archetypal dances inspired by these 4 animals promote instinctual ways of being, connecting, relating, and living.
Investment: £30 early bird by 20th Oct OR £40 otherwise Please email [email protected] Bradway Community Hall, Bradway Road, Sheffield S17 4QX Please bring a snack or something simple to share during the break. Thank you |
The tiger teaches will-power, determination, focused action, courage to confront reality, and ability to set limits. It shows us how to survive and thrive in the jungle of life. The serpent speaks of sensuality and of embracing our nature as desire-beings who are capable of attracting what we want into our lives. The hippo reminds us that we need to slow down and relax in order to able to enjoy the pleasure of living - and that life would be no fun without others. Togetherness is key. The heron teaches us the importance of rising above, of transforming suffering into wisdom, of seeing the bigger picture, and of keeping our autonomy and freedom.
They help us to integrate our embodied instinctual intelligence and begin to express ourselves fully, to form more fulfilling relationships, and to adopt more balanced lifestyles. We hope you can come. We would love to share this Biodanza day with you.
