Biodanza is a system of
· integration through affectivity (positive affects e.g. affection)
· organic renewal / biological regeneration
· education about the primary functions of life
What does integration through affectivity mean?
To integrate our sensory perception, feelings and emotions, movement and life-centred instinctual responses. In other words, to integrate psychomotricity* with the biocentric function of our instincts. Biodanza invites us to move away from dissociation and dance toward true wholeness of being through the power of positive affects (feelings and emotions) on our limbic system.
What does biological regeneration mean?
To establish homeostatic balance. To induce health-promoting processes through states of trance that help to renew and regulate our body’s biological functions.
What do you mean by an education about the primary functions life?
Learning to realign our behaviour and lifestyle with our genetic programming. How? By learning to be in feedback with our basic instincts, which focus on the preservation, continuation and evolution of life. So in Biodanza we develop our innate potentials within an enriched environment that helps to reactivate the real functions of life (capacity for love, joy, and courage to live).
Notes * Psychomotricity only in the narrow sense of muscular movements arising from mood or other psychological processes such as sensory perception, thinking, and memory.
